Helping families recover from severe weather
Tonga is well known for its wild weather and being struck by cyclones. Following severe weather events, many families struggle with food provision because traditional cooking methods rely on outdoor firewood and earth ovens called 'umu.' When rainfall and flooding saturate firewood, outdoor cooking becomes problematic.
The Akanesi Mataitonga Trust responds by delivering food to families who are in need during cyclone aftermath recovery efforts.
